Our partner organization's Women’s Empowerment Project (WEP), is working to empower women through a skillset that will help raise their family earning potential, raise their social status and equip them with skills that will benefit themselves, their families and their communities.
Hope, capacity and community are the essential fiber's of this program. There are few opportunities for women in this remote region to engage outside of their homes, both in terms of income-generating opportunities and interacting with women beyond their immediate families and religious communities. In 2022, 61 women graduated from our WEP, and 250 began training and will graduate in 2023.
A women’s vocational training center trainee shares: “There is no such center which can provide sewing skills [like this in my village]. I will return to my hometown once I complete this course. I am meeting ladies from other villages. Here we have ladies from different [backgrounds]. We are all very good friends here and our teachers always tells us to love each other and they [hope] for our bright future. I am so happy here. I never have missed a single day and I have my best time here in this center.”
