Hassan, a 27-year-old university student studying English, first heard about our character training through a friend. Through the training, he learned the importance of commitment and consistency, as well as the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation.
One evening after a training session, Hassan became irritated by the noise his siblings were making. Unable to study or sleep, he left the house. As he walked, he remembered that day’s lesson on kindness, along with a video that had deeply impacted him—showing a man caring for his neighbours, helping those in need, protecting the environment, and even feeding a stray dog. Hassan realized that his siblings, too, deserved kindness, no matter how agitated he felt. Choosing to forgive, he calmed himself and returned home.
Since the death of his father in 2012, Hassan had treated his mother and younger brother harshly. His father had been strict and cruel, ruling their home with fear. The very person Hassan had hated, he had slowly become. Without understanding the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation, Hassan believed he was trapped by his past. He did not realize that he could forgive his father, even though he had already passed away.
After completing the training, Hassan chose to forgive his father and experienced a deep sense of freedom from long-held bitterness. He sincerely apologized to both his mother and younger brother. As a result, the atmosphere within the family has begun to change. Although there are still others Hassan needs to forgive, he is hopeful and committed to continuing this journey. Recently, when relatives with whom he had a tense relationship came to visit, Hassan was able to welcome them warmly and offer words of encouragement..
