Nine-year-old Abrahim, who lives with cerebral palsy, joined the horse therapy program earlier this year together with his grandparents. When they first arrived, his grandfather, Eleman, appeared quiet and uncertain. The family had previously pursued numerous expensive treatments — including hot wax therapy, intensive massage, and shock therapy — yet none had reduced Abrahim’s pain, eased his fears, or improved his condition. These difficult experiences left the family discouraged, and Eleman questioned whether a program offered at no cost could truly make a difference.
Our project manager took time to explain the therapeutic approach, describing how the combination of neurodevelopmental therapy and therapeutic horse riding could help Abrahim build strength, improve balance, and work toward greater mobility. As the sessions continued, meaningful changes began to emerge. Abrahim gradually sat more upright, developed stronger core stability, and demonstrated improved balance. Over time, the team observed encouraging signs that he may one day be able to walk with assistance.
Witnessing his grandson’s progress proved deeply emotional for Eleman, who was moved to tears as the improvements became visible. Throughout the year, Abrahim continued to gain strength and confidence, while both grandparents repeatedly expressed gratitude for the care, patience, and commitment shown by the therapy team.
During the Christmas season, the organization also supported the family with essential food supplies and a message of encouragement and hope. Eleman shared, “It was the best gift we could have received.” His smile reflected the transformation he witnessed in his grandson—and in himself.
