A Helping Hand for my Family

Our partner organization's Women’s Empowerment Project (WEP), is working to empower women through a skillset that will help raise their family earning potential, raise their social status and equip them with skills that will benefit themselves, their families and their communities.

Iqra, a WEP graduate in a remote village says: “My father got married to another women and left our family with no support and money. I saw my mother struggling hard to manage things but nothing was going right. We are six sisters and three brothers and managing the whole family was like something impossible. One day I heard about a women’s training center that had been started by a lady. How could she do it? I could not believe it.

"I went for admission. The first day I hesitated a little because women in my village never step out of their house. But, every day it felt like a second home because I saw the love and care from our teacher and other fellows. I knew after completing the training I will become a helping hand for my family, which I did. My entire family is proud of me. These days I am stitching clothes for my entire family and saving money as well.”
